Prep School FTX (Land Navigation)

FTX is the land navigation exercise that culminated today's land navigation training block. Trainees broke into groups on Black Field and were given maps, compasses and way points (coordinates) to navigate to.

A cadre member also accompanied each group to ensure everyone returned safely.  The cadet candidates learned to navigate the old fashioned way without phone or GPS.  This skill will be vital in a downed aircrew situation in hostile territory.  It also serves as the beginning of the foundation for navigation in aviation, an important form of knowledge for rated officers.
