Prep School Culture and Climate Discussion Groups.

Last week the Prep School held small group discussions to train their students on

"Microaggressions and Stereotypes." The purpose of the discussions was to

ensure that they are doing everything they can as a group to capitalize on the

diversity represented at the Prep School. Many of their students come

from backgrounds that were not very diverse and it's important for them to

learn to recognize offensive language and how to communicate effectively

with their peers. This was the first of five discussion they have planned for

the year all centered on culture, climate, and building healthy

relationships. They had the students fill out surveys and the feedback was

extremely positive. The CC’s felt like the conversations were necessary and they

left with skills on how to communicate effectively and on how to facilitate

a culture centered on inclusion.
