This week we stopped by Arnold Hall to catch more 3 Degrees in the midst of a THRIVE Seminar.
Respect and Responsibility (R&R) is now Three-Degree Human behavior & Relationships In Varied Environments (THRIVE). THRIVE is a half day seminar that focuses on interpersonal relationships. "THRIVE exists to improve interpersonal relationships by: increasing understanding of self and others; expanding appreciation for valuing differences, and communication skill-building. Supervisor preparation training was designed to help third-class cadets comprehend their supervisory responsibilities and how to conduct engagements with their assigned fourth class cadet(s)."
While we were there the Cadets involved were figuring out what color they were by the chart below, marking down 1-4 for each category for what fit them the best. Once they tallied up the numbers, their highest score indicated their primary or brightest, color; the lowest score represents the color least like them. After figuring our their colors from highest to lowest they were they split into their "brightest" color and had to work together in a "Brightening Acitivity".
Here's the description/poem of each color.
Orange - "I act on a moment's notice. I consider life as a game, here and now. I need fun, variety, stimulation, and excitement. I value skill, resourcefulness, and courage. I am a natural trouble-shooter, a performer, and a competitor."
Gold - "I follow the rules and respect authority. I have a strong sense of what is right and wrong in life. I need to be useful and to belong. I value home, family, and tradition. I am a natural perserver, a good citizen and helpful."
Green - "I seek knowedge and understanding. I live life by my own standard. I need explanations and answers. I value intelligence, insight, fairness and justice. I am a natural non-conformist, a visionary, and a problem solver."
Blue - "I need to feel unique and authentic. I look for meaning and significance in life. I need to contribute, to encourage, and to care. I value integrity and unity in relationships. I am a natural romantic, a poet, and a nurturer.
