Commitment Dinner Class of 2028
The Class of 2028 marked an important milestone in their Academy journey during an evening centered on tradition and commitment. Beginning with the Forged in Blue Ceremony and concluding with the annual Commitment Dinner, the events celebrated the enduring bond between Academy graduates and the next generation of Air Force and Space Force officers.
The Forged in Blue Ceremony symbolizes the continuation of the Long Blue Line. During the ceremony, donated Air Force Academy class rings from previous graduates are melted together to create two gold ingots. One becomes the Forever Ingot for next year's ceremony, while the other is returned to Jostens to become part of the next class's rings. This year's melt included five donated rings from the Class of 1978 along with last year's Forever Ingot, continuing a tradition that connects generations of graduates.

Following the ceremony, the Class of 2028 gathered for the Commitment Dinner, marking their official commitment to serve beyond the Academy. As second-class cadets, they have reached the point where they incur the financial or active-duty service commitment associated with their education.
Members of the Legacy Class of 1978 joined the Class of 2028 for the evening, highlighting the lasting connection between past and future graduates. Together, the two traditions served as a powerful reminder that the Long Blue Line continues to grow with each new class.
